Values & Vision
Here's the short version of where I stand on some of the issues that matter most.
Women's Rights & Human Rights
I will never budge on this. I want to ensure that my daughter, and everyone's daughters, get to grow up in a place where they have the same freedoms and bodily autonomy rights that their MOTHERS and their GRANDMOTHERS had. It's their body. It's their choice. Period.
Sensible Gun Legislation
I'm not the only one who finds it troubling that my children have normalized lockdown drills at school. It's time that the adults in the room starting acting like it, and pass sensible gun legislation. As a responsible gun owner, someone who has experienced firsthand the effects of gun violence, and someone who grew up on a farm, I understand the complexities of the issue, and I firmly believe that we can have sensible gun ownership AND sensible gun legislation. Anything we can do to take steps in the direction of saving lives and mitigating future tragedies is something we must do.
Improved Infrastructure
I am a firm believer in the reinvestment of our hard-earned tax dollars back into our local economy for the benefit and betterment of the community.
Affordability
It's no secret that everything costs more than it ever has. Whether we're talking groceries to feed our families, gas for our cars, electricity to run our air conditioning, or the insurance to protect our families' health, it all adds up to an unprecedented sum of money that is crippling for many. My family's health insurance should not be our household's second highest expense behind our mortgage. I will fight to make everyday life more affordable for all Pennsylvanians.
Voting Rights
I will continue to foster the democratic process by helping to EXPAND access to voting, thereby increasing voting rights, rather than reduce voting access. I will fight against efforts like the SAVE Act, which are designed to alienate, discriminate, and disenfranchise voters. We need our democracy to be functional rather than dysfunctional, and I will work to empower all eligible Pennsylvanians to be involved and engaged in our voting.
Getting Money Out Of Politics
I stand firmly for getting money out of politics. Banning corporate gifts, placing limits on campaign contributions, and fighting against Citizens United to keep politics in our state for the people and BY the people, not by corporations and special interest groups, will help to make Pennsylvania's political landscape more accountable and will return bipartisan trust to our citizens.
